Shrove Tuesday - & hot dog pancakes with BBQ sauce & grated cheddar

Why not treat the kids to this simple cheeky little pancake innovation, Hot dog pancakes with BBQ sauce & cheese? First gather your ingredients

ingredients:  

  • 55g/2oz plain flour
  • pinch salt
  • 1 free-range egg
  • 140ml/5fl oz milk 
  • knob of butter or glug of oil for frying
  • This will make about 2 - 3 pancakes 
  • best hot dogs you can find - thicker the better
  • Best BBQ sauce you can find 
  • 150gm of mature cheddar grated - other cheeses can work, but make sure they have flavour 
  • some cocktail sticks  

Method: 

  • Make your batter for the pancakes 
  • heat butter/oil in a pan (if using butter be careful not to burn it)  
  • Make your pancakes as normal & set aside 
  • Meanwhile cook your hotdogs according to instructions
  • spread a layer of BBQ sauce on each pancake
  • sprinkle your cheese over the top of the sauce 
  • Lay one cooked hotdog per prepared pancake & roll it
  • Cut in diagangle shapes and hold each one with a cocktail stick
  • serve immediately & await praise for being the best parent ever
