Cold fork buffets give you greater choice
Slightly more formal, ideal for a self-service sit down occasion such as a garden party, or a corporate function where the guests are not likely to eat for some time after the event. The suggestions below work well together but please feel free to discuss further options or mix and match if you wish. Taste, colour and variety of choice should be a major consideration with fork buffets. A large impressive centrepiece, such as a dressed salmon, will balance the buffet. Think about how the food is going to fit onto a person’s plate bearing in mind that a few plate fillers such as quiches, potato salads and coleslaws followed by a few nibbles usually works well. Or bring in more ethnic foods such as Lebanese-style white bait, Tabbouleh, homous olives and flatbreads for variety and interest. Although slightly more formal, the advantage of a cold fork buffet offers impressive varied food choices, allowing guests to chose how they fill their plates. Economies are made by keeping the buffet self-service or by keeping waiting staff to a minimum. Typically, 2 waiting staff can cover a fork buffet for approximately 30 to 60 people as they will only be maintaining the presentation of the food, replenishing as required, and clearing up at the end of the function.
Some further considerationsAlthough disposable crockery and cutlery is perfectly adequate for a cold fork buffet, real crockery and cutlery is always better. With fork buffets, our policy is to provide crockery and cutlery inclusive of the cost. We do however need to cover our costs and make a small service charge for collection and back dirty options. Please enquire.
Try before you buyA fork buffet is usually reserved for more important functions so it should be enjoyable. Getting it right is most important and we can help by arranging a free tasting session. We offer this without any obligation to purchase and we take the pressure off by sending out the menu and quote only after you have departed. We believe that by first letting you try the food we will be able to design a much more accurate menu for your needs and, just as importantly, ensure it is on budget. DrinksDrinks will probably be required and, once again, if you purchase from us, the glassware is complimentary with the service charge. if you are providing Alcohol please check that the premises are licensed. General notes on our ingredientsAs standard we use English free range eggs, and English or Irish ethically-farmed meats. Our view is that British food has less of a carbon footprint, is farmed ethically, and helps our economy. As an added bonus, it is of better quality and taste. A quick note on VATCold food is exempt from VAT but if it is served by a paid waiter or
waitress, by law, we do then have to charge VAT at the going rate. Take a look at our menusClick the links below to view the appropriate menu which opens in an overlay box. To get back to this page click the cross in the bottom right hand corner of the box or click anywhere outside the box.
